CIO Council Meeting Minutes

– November 29, 2001 –

 

The November meeting was held at the Iowa Technology Department located at 401 SW 7^th Street, Des Moines Iowa.

 

1.      Welcome and Introductions – Leon Schwartz welcomed everyone to the meeting and asked everyone to introduce themselves.

2.      ICN Update – Mike Bacino reported that a 3^rd Internet provider is due to come on-line in the very near future.

3.       ITD Update – Debbie O’Leary discussed the ITD Procurement rules.  They are currently evaluating the comments received and will be resend the adjusted rules back out for additional comments.  However, the processed must be completed by 1/10/02.  ITD has been working on their Strategic Plans and will be sending them out soon for comments.  She also reminded everyone that the ITD equipment inventory is due by 12/17/01.

4.      CIO Agenda Brainstorming.  The group used Group Systems to identify the areas of concern that should be covered over the next calendar year.  The two types of areas covered were in Policy Issues and Information Sharing.  Leon thought we should try to address at least one item from each of these two areas each month.   It was also brought up that these two areas should only be a portion of the meetings and time should be allowed to continue with areas such as ICN & ITD updates, along with other areas of concern.  It was also suggested that a web-based calendar be established to identify any upcoming events of interest in the IT area.

The December CIO meeting has been canceled.  Therefore, the next CIO meeting will be held January 31^st, 2002, in the 2^nd floor ICN conference room at IDED, located at 200 E. Grand Ave.
