CIO Council Meeting Minutes

– October 25, 2001 –

 

The October meeting was held at the Iowa Technology Showcase held at the Polk County Convention Center.

 

1.      Welcome and Introductions – Leon Schwartz welcomed everyone to the meeting and asked everyone to introduce themselves.

2.      ITD Purchasing Rules – Leon mentioned that there would be an ITD Purchasing Rules meeting held on 10/26/01 and recommended that everyone attend.

3.      ICN Update – Mike Bacino reported that they continue to work on Internet connection problems and things appear to be working better.  He also reminded everyone that the Data Users Group meets the 3^rd Wednesday of every month at the Lottery.  The ICN will be installing a core server in the near future.  Mike also spoke briefly on the ICN being hacked into which cost them approximately $145,000 in International Calls plus approximately $15,000 in incoming 800 calls.

Rich Varn requested that the ICN be more pro-active in communicating problems to the other state agencies.

4.      ITD Update – Rich Varn reported that Iowa was one of four states being used as a model for Homeland Security.  He also asked everyone to think about updating/preparing documentation on IT security processes.

5.      Accelio Presentation – Martha Kolloff, Tom Hicks, & David Rozanski, from Accelio Corp. put on a presentation of their services.

The next CIO meeting will be held at the ITD facility located on SW 7^th St. from 1-3 PM.  We will be using Group Systems to brainstorm the direction the CIO Council should be headed in the next year.
