CIO Council Meeting Minutes

October 25, 2001

 

The October meeting was held at the Iowa Technology Showcase held at the Polk County Convention Center.

 

1.      Welcome and Introductions – Leon Schwartz welcomed everyone to the meeting and asked everyone to introduce themselves.

2.      ITD Purchasing Rules – Leon mentioned that there would be an ITD Purchasing Rules meeting held on 10/26/01 and recommended that everyone attend.

3.      ICN Update – Mike Bacino reported that they continue to work on Internet connection problems and things appear to be working better.  He also reminded everyone that the Data Users Group meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month at the Lottery.  The ICN will be installing a core server in the near future.  Mike also spoke briefly on the ICN being hacked into which cost them approximately $145,000 in International Calls plus approximately $15,000 in incoming 800 calls.

Rich Varn requested that the ICN be more pro-active in communicating problems to the other state agencies.

4.      ITD Update – Rich Varn reported that Iowa was one of four states being used as a model for Homeland Security.  He also asked everyone to think about updating/preparing documentation on IT security processes.

5.      Accelio Presentation – Martha Kolloff, Tom Hicks, & David Rozanski, from Accelio Corp. put on a presentation of their services.

The next CIO meeting will be held at the ITD facility located on SW 7th St. from 1-3 PM.  We will be using Group Systems to brainstorm the direction the CIO Council should be headed in the next year.
