Information Technology Management Committee Meeting

Agenda Item #1 – Welcome and Introductions

Agenda Item #2 – Information Technology Services

Enterprise Planning Teams – Accountable Government Planning Team is holding a public hearing on its recommendations on December 6. On December 8, the 21st Century Education Planning Team will be holding a public hearing.

ITS is involved in identification of the core services that it should be providing to meet the goals established by Governor Vilsack.

Rich introduced Rebecca Walsh who has been selected to assist ITS and other agencies in securing funding through various fund/grant programs. Agencies needing assistance in seeking funds through grants should contact Rebecca.

Rich also identified that Bill Haigh has been selected to perform public information duties including serving as legislative liaison for ITS.

Technology Projects – A group is currently evaluating 21 separate requests for projects with the intent that projects will be prioritized for submission to Governor Vilsack.

Rich discussed briefly the initiative known as Group Systems which provides a tool for conducting meetings in an interactive way. Individuals communicate through entering information which is shared with others on line.

 

Technology Showcase – To be held December 15 and 16 at the Polk County Convention Center. Both technical and business staff is encouraged to attend as this is envisioned as an excellent opportunity to learn from numerous presentations while visiting with a variety of vendors.

 

Agenda Item #3 – Iowa Communications Network

Mike Bacino and Tony Crandall reported on the successful installations of IVR applications in the Departments of Workforce Development, Education, and Revenue and Finance. They indicated that with this expansion that the Monthly Data Users Group has been expanded to include IVR representation. The meetings which occur on the 3rd Wednesday of the month are open for others to join.

 

Agenda Item #4 – Information Technology Transition Team Report

IT Transition – Rich Varn reported on progress being made in Transition Team. Individuals were encouraged to review the report and to identify other issues as time went along. Rich commented that the Governor had asked that cores services be identified and that these be provided as part of Department of Technology’s base service level.

 

Agenda Item #5 – Discussion of IowAcess

Due to a scheduling conflict Berri Balaka was unable to attend and will be rescheduled.

 

Agenda Item #6 – Other Issues

Rich Varn identified that Leon Schwartz has been selected by Governor Vilsack to chair the ITMC. The group congratulated Leon on his selection.

Dawn Connett of IBM encouraged attendance at a demonstration of Websphere on November 30th at 9:30 in Room 1 of the Capitol.

Rich Jacobs indicated that he would like to provide the opportunity for someone elso to serve in the role of vice chair and that individuals interested should provide their name to Leon. A selection will be made at the next meeting.
